About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of an award-winning, highly regarded solicitors' firm with offices in the Peak District. With a longstanding reputation for delivering excellent client service and legal expertise, the firm is seeking a dedicated Assistant Conveyancer to support their busy and expanding residential conveyancing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support on a full range of residential property matters including sales, purchases, re mortgages, and transfers of equity.

  • Draft contracts, transfer forms, and completion statements.

  • Conduct IFA (Independent Financial Adviser) checks and ensure anti-money laundering compliance.

  • Handle DS1 (Discharge of Mortgage) forms, liaising with lenders to arrange the release of charges.

  • Carry out official searches, prepare SDLT returns, and register documents with HM Land Registry.

  • Communicate professionally with clients, lenders, agents, and other solicitors.

  • Maintain accurate and organised case files and ensure deadlines are met.

  • Undertake post-completion duties in line with firm and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a conveyancing assistant or paralegal role.

  • Working knowledge of the conveyancing process from instruction to post-completion.

  • Experience with IFA checks and handling DS1s.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple files simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with legal case management software.

Desirable:

  • CILEX or other legal qualifications (completed or in progress).
