Our client an established, forward thinking firm of Chartered Accountants are seeking an Accounts Senior to join their growing team in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

The position will involve managing all aspects of accounts for a mixed portfolio of clients which are assigned to you.

Key duties will include:-

  • Prepare client accounts and tax returns based on information supplied by client, advise on tax payable and payment dates and to meet deadlines, finalise paperwork for dispatch to client and H M Revenue & Customs
  • Liaise with clients to obtain relevant information for their accounts, acting in a proactive way and ensuring attention to details and effective questioning of client
  • Working with Managers to develop knowledge of clients and their businesses so as to become their point of contact on day-to-day matters
  • Assist the Partners and Managers with tax planning for existing and potential clients, adding value to our clients’ businesses and individual wealth.
  • Support of partners and managers with specific assignments- e.g. business planning, advisory and tax matters
  • Seek to identify business and personal tax planning opportunities, drawing to attention of partners/ client as appropriate. Preparation of necessary reports/ computations etc, liaising with other professional advisers as required.
  • Monitor own job quality and quantity in line with agreed budgets, meeting these targets and exceeding where possible
  • Support trainees by providing on the job coaching
  • Attend courses that are appropriate to job role
  • Bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier maintenance and management accounts, as and when required
  • Prepare client tax returns based on information supplied by client, advise on tax payable and payment dates and to meet deadlines in line with the firms’ standards
  • Assisting clients with accounts software and other bookkeeping queries as required
  • Involvement in client seminars including attendance and set up where required
  • Assist the Partner and manager in taking responsibility for the proactive promotion of the Firm in conjunction with the marketing department
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required

They are ideally looking for someone with at least 2-3 years UK practice experience, with a strong accounts background and has a professional qualification such as ACCA/ACA.

A good understanding of software such as CCH, Xero, Sage line 50 and Farmplan would also be an advantage.
