Technical Sales Engineer (German Speaking) – Capital Equipment / Packaging Machinery
Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in Banbury HQ, remainder home-based & travel across EMEA (primarily Germany)
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + £10,000–£15,000 commission + pool car + 25 days holiday
About the Role
We are seeking a Technical German-Speaking Sales Engineer to join a growing business entering a new venture within the food and pharmaceutical industries. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new division and take ownership of business development across EMEA, with a key focus on Germany.
You will be responsible for selling high-value capital equipment (typically £50k–£200k) through a combination of distribution channels, OEM partners, and direct end users. The sales cycle typically spans around 6 months, requiring a mix of strategic account management and proactive new business generation.
This role offers a balance of technical engagement and commercial development, ideal for someone who thrives in solution-led sales and long-term customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage sales across EMEA, with a strong focus on the German market.
- Build and maintain relationships with distributors, OEM partners, and key end users.
- Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities for packaging and processing machinery.
- Provide technical support, presentations, and product demonstrations to customers.
- Work closely with internal engineering, service, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Contribute to the strategic development of a new business unit and help shape sales processes and structures.
About You
We’re looking for a driven, technically minded professional with strong communication and relationship-building skills. You may already be in a sales role—or looking to transition from a project, service, or applications engineering background into a customer-facing position.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Fluent or conversational German language skills (required).
- Background in capital equipment / packaging machinery / automation / process equipment.
- Experience selling into distributors, OEMs, or end users within industrial, food, or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate complex machinery solutions.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, able to manage your own diary, travel, and reporting effectively.
The Offer
- Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 basic (DOE)
- Commission: £10,000 – £15,000 annually (realistic, uncapped)
