Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with behavioural needs, using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management strategies.

  • Assist the class teacher in maintaining a structured, calm, and productive learning environment.

  • Implement behaviour intervention plans, support emotional regulation, and encourage positive routines.

  • Build trusting, professional relationships with pupils to help increase engagement and reduce barriers to learning.

  • Support the monitoring and recording of behavioural incidents, progress, and interventions.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, pastoral leads, and external agencies where required.

  • Promote inclusion by helping pupils participate meaningfully in lessons and social activities.

  • Provide support in preparing learning materials and adapting activities to meet individual needs.

  • Uphold safeguarding policies, confidentiality, and welfare procedures at all times.

  • Participate in relevant training related to behaviour support and SEND provision.



Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people who present challenging behaviour.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent under pressure.

  • Understanding of positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.

  • Ability to follow behaviour plans and work collaboratively within a team.
