We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join our dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Barking. In this vital role, you will work closely with students who require support in managing their behaviour, helping them to re-engage with learning and thrive within a structured, supportive environment.
The Role:As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, helping students to understand and regulate their behaviour, build confidence, and develop positive relationships. Working as part of the pastoral and inclusion team, you'll support the implementation of behaviour strategies and promote a culture of respect and high expectations.
Key Responsibilities:-
Provide targeted mentoring and behaviour support to students

Implement and monitor behaviour intervention plans (BIPs)

Help de-escalate incidents and support students in crisis

Build trusting relationships to encourage positive change

Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and families to provide consistent support

Promote inclusion and ensure a safe, respectful school environment

Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or alternative provision setting

A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach

Strong communication and de-escalation skills

Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and encouraging positive choices

A background in education, youth work, psychology, or behaviour support is desirable
