Full-Time Teacher of Sociology Required - Outstanding Barking School (September 2025 Start)

Our Outstanding school in the vibrant and diverse borough of Barking, London, seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of Sociology to join our thriving Social Sciences department and make a real difference to the sociological understanding and analytical skills of our students at Key Stages 4 and 5, commencing in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective Sociology lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of our students at GCSE and A-Level, reflecting the social realities of Barking.
  • Fostering students' understanding of key sociological theories, concepts, and research methods.
  • Encouraging critical thinking, analysis, and evaluation of social issues relevant to Barking and wider society.
  • Assessing and tracking student progress in Sociology, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies where necessary.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the Sociology curriculum, ensuring alignment with examination specifications.
  • Utilizing and contributing to the development of high-quality Sociology resources, including contemporary research and media.
  • Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote social awareness and debate within the school community.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Social Sciences department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment within the Barking context.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
