The Role

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Hand Enclosing Operative to join our production team. This role plays a crucial part in the final stages of the print and mailing process, where accuracy, quality, and efficiency are essential.

Working as part of the enclosing team, you will be responsible for the manual collation, assembly, and packaging of printed materials to meet client specifications and business standards.

Key Responsibilities

Material Preparation & Assembly

  • Receive and verify printed materials against job specifications.
  • Organise, sort, and prepare items for hand enclosing, ensuring correct sequencing.
  • Assemble and collate printed pieces manually, following job orders and production guidelines.
  • Insert, fold, and prepare items to required quality standards.

Quality Control

  • Carry out visual checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and correct any defects or discrepancies in assembled materials.
  • Report quality issues or deviations promptly to the Enclosing Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed jobs, output volumes, and any issues encountered.

Packaging & Dispatch

  • Package finished products securely and efficiently to avoid damage.
  • Label all items accurately for identification and distribution.
  • Work to production schedules and meet agreed deadlines.

Equipment & Safety

  • Operate and maintain basic hand tools and equipment used during enclosing.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and routine upkeep of tools when required.
  • Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with health & safety standards.
  • Adhere to company policies, quality procedures, and safe working practices at all times.

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth workflow across the enclosing department.
  • Provide feedback on processes to support efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Be flexible to take on reasonable ad hoc duties in line with business needs.

Skills & Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to follow job sheets and interpret specifications accurately.
  • Good communication skills in English and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Physically able to carry out the role, including standing or sitting for extended periods, lifting, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Previous experience in a print, mailing, or production environment desirable but not essential (full training provided).
