Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a skilled and experienced Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Reception-aged child presenting with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a supportive primary school in Dagenham. This full-time role begins immediately after May half term.

This is a rewarding position, where your experience and understanding of high-level ASD will be essential in helping a young child navigate their early school life.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting a child with high-level ASD in an education or care setting

  • Strong knowledge of Autism and confidence implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviour and support communication

  • Understanding of the EYFS curriculum and how to adapt it for individual needs

  • Experience with or awareness of tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual schedules

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Ability to work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists

Compliance Requirements:

To work in schools through Tradewind, you must have:

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)

  • Two professional references covering the last two years

  • A full CV with a 10-year employment/education history (explaining any gaps)

  • Overseas police checks (if applicable)

  • Completion of Safeguarding training (we can assist with this)
