Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 (depending on experience)
I’m working with a well-established, medium-sized contractor specialising in technically challenging cut & carve structural projects across London and the South East. Their expertise covers structural alterations, complex demolitions, underpinning, reinforced concrete (RC) works, basements, temporary works, and structural steel installations.
These are not your standard projects – every scheme is unique, demanding innovation, precision, and strong commercial management from a skilled Quantity Surveyor.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Project Quantity Surveyor who wants to move away from repetitive residential or new-build schemes and become a specialist in complex structural and builders’ works. The Role
As Project Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering technically challenging structural alteration projects from pre-construction through to final account. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate cost plans, valuations, and variations for cut & carve and RC packages.
- Leading procurement of subcontractors and specialist trades for demolition, structural steel, basements, and temporary works.
- Managing contracts (JCT / NEC) and maintaining robust commercial control throughout each project.
- Working closely with the delivery team to ensure safe, profitable, and timely completion.
- Providing commercial input on risk management and project planning.
- Supporting the Commercial Director in enhancing the business’s reputation for specialist structural contracting.
We are seeking a proactive Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment. You should have:
- Experience in cut & carve, reinforced concrete (RC), or structural alteration projects.
- A strong commercial skill set: procurement, valuations, reporting, and contract management.
- Solid understanding of JCT or NEC contract forms.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ambition to progress quickly within a supportive, medium-sized contractor.
- A base within a commutable distance of High Barnet, Hertfordshire.
- Salary £50,000 – £70,000 depending on experience.
