My client, a large, innovative Multidisciplinary Consultancy is searching for a Graduate Civil Engineer with a focus on Flood Risk and Drainage to join their growing team of engineering and design experts, near the exciting, northern Market Town of Barnsley.

Essential Criteria:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of flood risk and drainage strategies, including Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Working knowledge of the relevant Section Agreements (including S104, S106, etc.)
  • Knowledge of InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, Flood Modeller, InfoDrainage, and other software packages
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • A willingness to learn and consistently develop technical skills through direct, hands-on experience

It would also be beneficial for applicants for the role of Graduate Civil Engineer to have the following:

  • Some professional experience, particularly with flood risk and drainage
  • Working knowledge of a range of additional relevant software packages
  • A demonstrable commitment to improving your knowledge and skills in the field
  • Excellent time management and communication skills

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will be joining a team of expert design engineers, working on a number of varied, high-profile projects across the region. As you progress through your career, you will take on a range of different responsibilities, including the following:

  • Contributing to a range of flood risk and drainage strategy projects
  • Working with the wider team to ensure project goals are delivered to the highest standard, and delivered within given timeframes
  • Undertaking the relevant technical analysis using software packages
  • Preparing and issuing accurate technical information regarding projects, including calculations, models, and drawings
  • Liaising with clients and other stakeholders
  • Contributing to and carrying out site meetings and inspections
  • Developing and maintaining client relations, across the public and private sectors
  • Contributing to projects, adhering to industry standards, designated budgets, and agreed timelines
