Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a well-established manufacturing business in, Barnsley to recruit a CNC Automation Technician. This is a permanent role with competitive pay, overtime premiums, business performance bonus, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, contributory pension, healthcare scheme and subsidised refreshments on site.

The Role – CNC Automation TechnicianYou will provide technical support for CNC and automated production processes, ensuring machines are running effectively and output is maintained. This is a hands-on role, working on the shop floor and collaborating closely with production, engineering and quality teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting production with technical expertise to optimise CNC machine performance and minimise downtime

  • Managing and updating CNC programmes, recording corrections and reasons for changes

  • Carrying out recovery procedures and investigating errors to prevent recurrence

  • Liaising with tooling and equipment suppliers to resolve persistent issues

  • Performing basic equipment maintenance and controlling consumables and spares

  • Auditing operator maintenance tasks to ensure correct care of equipment

  • Supporting new product introduction and engineering changes through CNC programming and validation

  • Programming using CNC ISO and Renishaw systems to deliver process improvements

The PersonWe are looking for someone with a strong background in CNC and automation. The ideal CNC Automation Technician will have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment

  • Hands-on experience of CNC programming, operation and recovery systems

  • Strong knowledge of Fanuc operating systems and Renishaw programming

  • Understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, coolant specification and HSE requirements

  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement

HoursMonday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30Friday 07:30 – 13:30 (40 hours per week)
