WEEE General Operative – Barnsley (S71)

About the Role

As a WEEE Line General Operative  you’ll be at the heart of the recycling process, handling and sorting scrap metal and electrical components. You’ll help prepare electronic equipment for recycling or disposal, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Sorting & Handling: Direct WEEE materials to correct recycling streams
  • Quality Control: Inspect incoming SDA materials for compliance
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially around refrigeration units
  • Team Collaboration: Work with colleagues to meet production targets
  • Housekeeping: Keep work areas clean and hazard-free
    Additional duties may be required based on business needs.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in recycling or waste management preferred
  • Understanding of health & safety regulations
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience dismantling electronics is a plus
  • Willingness to operate machinery (training provided)
  • Physically fit and safety-conscious
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
