Purpose
Deliver fast, accurate, and professional business support across a range of council and frontline services, ensuring everything runs smoothly and in line with regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide efficient, confidential administrative support to frontline and statutory teams.
- Handle phone and in-person enquiries - offering clear advice, guidance, and signposting.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence quickly and accurately.
- Work closely with managers, colleagues, and the public to keep communication flowing.
- Support statutory meetings - recording decisions live using digital templates.
- Organise meetings, diaries, and appointments - making sure everything's in place for attendees.
- Carry out research and project work, producing high-quality information and reports.
- Collect, analyse, and present data clearly for different audiences.
- Keep admin tasks on track despite interruptions or competing demands.
- Help improve internal systems and processes while safeguarding confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records in both digital and paper formats.
- Manage financial admin tasks - placing orders, reconciling, and processing payments.
- Stay up to date with policies, procedures, and legislation affecting service delivery.
What You'll Bring
Education & Training
- Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant area.
- Training or experience using Microsoft Office.
Experience
- Proven experience in a busy business support environment.
- Skilled in handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Confident researching and producing clear written and verbal reports.
- Experience managing financial information and resolving payment issues.
- Minute-taking and meeting support using digital tools (desirable).
Knowledge
- Awareness of local and national government operations.
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of data protection, information governance, health & safety, and risk.
- Basic understanding of project management (desirable).
