Job Description:

Hybrid working - the post very much involves physical inspections and supporting a Team that is low in resources.

A discussion around hybrid working for the right candidate is feasible, but limited.

You will need access to their own vehicle.

We may consider a discussion around pay rates for the right candidate.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated Licensing Officer, competent to undertake animal licensing inspections.

Dealing with the administration and enforcement of a range of statutory licensing functions.

Your primary responsibility is to protect the public, and environment. You will also have a role to play with regard animal welfare.

You will assist in the promotion and safeguarding of public safety and animal welfare through the operation of an effective and efficient licensing regulatory regime.

The role will be varied, covering an interesting workload and all aspects of licensing. It will focus on animal licensing, and additionally will cover other licensed areas such as hackney carriage and private hire, alcohol and entertainment, and gambling. The role will be proactive in terms of regulation, with the need to inspect, risk rate, and actively investigate customer requests and complaints.

The successful applicant will have a positive 'can do’ attitude, and demonstrate experience in enforcing legislation. You will need to undertake regulatory sanctions and be able to put your knowledge into practice in providing effective advice to a variety of stakeholders and in responding to complex queries. You may on occasion be tasked with preparation of reports and evidence files; and need to present evidence in legal proceedings if required.

We need someone who can confidently and effectively communicate with different audiences and liaise with other enforcement bodies, veterinarians etc.

This position will require strong interpersonal skills and a high level of organisational skills to manage a diverse workload. You will need to maintain accurate records and ensure data quality. Having the confidence to take decisions within agreed parameters will be essential.

You will need a valid driving licence, and access to a motor vehicle with relevant insurance for business purposes.
