Bennett and game are currently working with a specialist contractor providing scaffolding, access solutions, surface preparation, protective coatings, and industrial cleaning to some of the UK's most complex and high-profile projects. Operating across sectors including nuclear, marine, energy, infrastructure, and defence, they deliver safe, reliable, and innovative solutions that support main contractors and asset owners in maintaining and enhancing critical facilities.

Our client is now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team, supporting a major project based in Barrow-in-Furness. The Commercial Manager will be reporting to senior leadership, the Commercial Manager will take responsibility for the commercial management of a key project, ensuring contractual compliance, cost control, and effective stakeholder management. This role will be based predominantly on-site in Barrow-in-Furness (minimum 4 days per week), with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the commercial function of project, managing a team of 2
  • Administer contracts (Bespoke forms), ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Lead cost management, including forecasting, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Provide commercial support to project delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and present commercial reports for senior management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with company policies and governance procedures.
  • Providing commercial input into tenders and business planning


Commercial Manager job requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience as a Commercial Manager within civil engineering, nuclear, or access industry's
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (and experience with bespoke contracts is desirable).
  • Proven ability to manage project costs, risks, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Flexible to be site-based in Barrow-in-Furness at least 4 days per week.
  • UK Passport holder - able to pass security clearance checks due to the highly secure nature of the project
