The Opportunity
As an experienced Foreman you will join and support the site team on a 10m new build primary school in Barrow-in-Furness. This position involves assisting with the preparation, execution and completion of works packages, ensuring high standards of workmanship are maintained throughout. You will work closely with the Site Manager to help achieve project milestones, promptly report any hazards or issues, contribute to a professional and collaborative site culture while adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
What We're Looking For
Relevant Qualifications:
- SSSTS (Essential)
- First Aid (Desirable not essential)
- SMSTS (Desirable but not essential as long as you have SSSTS certification)
Experience:
- A strong background in the industry, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a Foreman role or similar position for a leading contractor or subcontractor
- Proven experience working in a similar position on new build / refurbishment education projects

- Competent IT / software skills
- Comprehensive health and safety knowledge
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to organise and manage project schedules
- A solid understanding of relevant regulations and standards
- Knowledgeable of construction processes, techniques, and materials
- In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and building processes
- Exceptional focus on detail to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, including proper waste management and recycling practices
Key Responsibilities
- Tool box talks
- Perform and/or participate in site inductions
- Liaise with stakeholders and sub-contractors
- Report and work closely with the Site Manager
- Coordinate tasks among various construction phases
- Promptly report hazards, incidents, or defects to the Site Manager
- Assist the Site Manager with managing the site team and delegating duties
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and policies during all work operations
- Maintain cleanliness and safety on site, adhering to all health, safety, and environmental requirements
- Perform a broad range of construction duties aligned with project requirements and technical drawings
- Assist in maintaining environmental compliance through proper handling of waste, recycling, and erosion prevention activities
- Assist with the receipt, handling, storage, and management of materials, ensuring safe and efficient utilisation on site
- Contribute to the setup, execution, and completion of work packages, delivering a high level of workmanship
- Competently and safely handle hand tools, power tools, and plant machinery in accordance with training and company guidelines
- Collaborate effectively with the site team, subcontractors, and management to coordinate works and ensure key project milestones are successfully achieved
- Consistently adhere to method statements, risk assessments, and company policies to ensure safe and compliant working practices at all times
- Promote and support a constructive site environment through dependable work, professional conduct, and strong collaboration with colleagues
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring all plant, machinery, and hand tools remain in safe working condition
