Electrical Control & Instrumentation EngineerLocation: Barrow-in-Furness, BAE SystemsContract length: 12 monthsBusiness Unit: SubmarinesDays on site: 3-4 days on site per weekRate: £43.45 PAYE or £58.58 Umbrella  Join our innovative engineering team as a Principal Engineer – Control & Instrumentation (C&I) and play a key role in delivering and integrating complex control systems across high-impact defence or industrial programmes. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll lead on design, development, integration, testing, and delivery of sophisticated C&I systems.  Knowledge & Experience:
  • Strong understanding of C&I systems design with proven career experience.
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (Engineering, Physics, Maths, or related field).
  • Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle and best practices.
  • Experience with Defence and Industry standards such as IEC 61508 / 61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C / DO-254 (desirable).
Skills:
  • Proactive, self-motivated and highly organised approach to complex problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Capable of mentoring and leading others.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards it.
