Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Integration, Validation & Verification)

?? Hybrid working: 3-4 days onsite, with travel to Rochester & Warton as required

Are you an experienced Systems Engineer with a passion for complex integration and cutting-edge defence systems? Join a high-impact programme supporting the UK submarine fleet as a Principal Systems Integration & Validation Engineer. You'll lead and deliver engineering solutions that bring control systems to life in real-world environments.



?? What You'll Be Doing:

  • Designing and setting up IV&V (Integration, Validation & Verification) facilities and SIM/STIM test rigs

  • Supporting test programmes through to system certification for advanced control systems

  • Leading technical work packages across multidisciplinary teams and mentoring other engineers

  • Managing C&I equipment delivery and ensuring solutions meet customer needs

  • Supporting the design, development, and qualification of high-integrity systems used on in-build or in-service vessels



?? What You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience in Systems Engineering and strong knowledge of C&I system design

  • Full lifecycle understanding of systems engineering - from requirements to validation

  • Familiarity with Defence or Industry standards such as IEC 61508 / ARP 4754 / DO-178C

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or a related STEM subject

  • Chartership or actively working towards it

  • Confident communicator with leadership experience, and able to influence across teams and stakeholders
