Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Consultant- Nuclear Safety, ideally with a background in the nuclear or defence sector to be engaged on a permanent basis in Barrow with flexible hybrid working arrangements.
What you'll be doing:

  • Act as safety engineering lead, providing recommendations through analysis to improve the safety engineering performance and delivery of departmental outputs
  • Facilitating the build and commissioning delivery programme through innovative engineering solutions and problem solving
  • Ensuring the maintenance of design intent during the build and commissioning
  • Advise and conduct Intelligent Customer duties regarding documentation, advice and services provided to the business
  • Supporting assessment of design changes
  • Assessing build maturity for entry into subsequent build phases
  • Providing technically sound challenges to existing requirements
  • Writing and presenting reports to communicate nuclear safety matters to a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Your skills and experiences:
Essential:

  • Degree Qualified Engineering/Physical Science discipline; Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Materials, Chemistry, Physics
  • Knowledge of the nuclear industry and Nuclear Regulations
  • Previous exposure to Engineering Lifecycle
  • Proven experience of justifying design change

Desirable:

  • Proven technical report writing skills
  • Presentation skill
