Academics is looking to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 male pupil with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in a friendly primary school in the Vale of Glamorgan.

This role involves working both within the classroom alongside the class teacher, and also independently outside the classroom to provide tailored support. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil access learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with ALN

  • Assist with learning activities in class and through individual sessions outside the classroom

  • Support the pupil's social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow personalised support strategies

  • Help create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with ALN (Key Stage 2 desirable)

  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service or willing to apply)

  • Two professional references
