Port Operative

Are you reliable, hardworking, and looking for a hands-on role in a busy port environment? We're looking for motivated Port Operatives to join our growing operations team. You'll play a vital role in the loading and unloading of ships, cargo handling, and general port duties, helping to keep goods moving safely and efficiently.



Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload cargo, containers, and vehicles within the port.
  • Assist with the movement and storage of goods around the terminal.
  • Operate machinery and equipment (e.g., forklifts, tugs) if trained.
  • Carry out manual handling tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all health and safety, security, and port regulations.
  • Work closely with stevedores, crane operators, and supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area at all times.


Requirements

  • Previous experience in port operations, warehousing, logistics, or manual labour is desirable but not essential.
  • Physically fit and able to work in an outdoor, fast-paced environment.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Willingness to undergo training (e.g., forklift, tug, RoRo).
