A1 Personnel are curently recruiting for a Manual Turner on behalf of our client, a well established manufacturing compnay based in Basildon.

This role involves working with manual lathes to produce high-quality precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual lathes to machine components to tight tolerances.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

  • Cut, grind or drill materials as required

  • Perform quality checks using measuring tools such as micrometers and verniers.

  • Ensure the proper maintenance and upkeep of machinery.

  • Work safely and efficiently, following all company and industry regulations.

  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve processes and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Manual Turner in a precision engineering environment.

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machining principles.

  • Proficiency in using manual lathes and measuring tools.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with a variety of materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, brass).

  • Knowledge of other manual machining processes (milling, grinding, etc.).

  • Apprenticeship or formal engineering qualification (preferred but not essential).
