Remedy is working very closely with a school in Basildon who have students with SEMH needs . Our setting offers a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every student is given the opportunity to succeed-academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are seeking a resilient, compassionate, and motivated Behaviour Mentor to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable learners with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, challenging behaviour, or other complex needs.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to students.

  • Deliver engaging, inclusive, and adapted lessons

  • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour in a positive, proactive way

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, helping to boost confidence, engagement, and achievement

  • Support with the daily running of the classroom and maintain a safe, structured learning environment

  • Liaise with head teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support holistic development



Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, preferably in a PRU, alternative provision, or similar setting

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • QTS / PGCE

  • Experience with SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or restorative approaches

  • Understanding of EHCPs, safeguarding procedures, and SEND Code of Practice
