Description
- Provide tax compliance services to the partners; preparation of personal tax returns for review by the Head of Tax and Compliance; computation of taxes due and dealing with any personal tax related issues, queries, including splitting liabilities, preparing banking instructions and supporting schedules in relation to payments
- Preparation of partners' tax return database, including reconciliation of the tax liability position to individual tax returns, to record the progress and status of tax returns
- Assistance with the bi-annual tax payments to HMRC
- Contacting HMRC regarding partners' tax affairs, making the disclosure and assisting with enquiries
- Engaging in tax discussions with newly appointed partners and meetings/explanations for retiring partners
- Assistance with the preparation of the partnership tax computations and corporation tax return review for the operating businesses
- Be a subject matter expert / liaison point on up-to-date legislation, advising on ad-hoc tax related queries, eg withholding tax, employment tax and VAT queries.
- Assistance with PSA calculation such as analysis of expenses
- Assistance with VAT returns for the UK entities, review transactions to ensure VAT is accurately applied and claimed
- Review and ensure the firm complies with IR35 regulations.
- To undertake any specific training when required and overall responsibility towards self-development
Profile
A successful Tax Accountant should have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CTA, ATT)
- In depth understanding of personal tax with a willingness to explore other areas of tax
- Self-motivated and pro-active, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Highly organised, hands-on individual
- Experience using CCH, IRIS tax software and good working knowledge of Excel.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical and logical approach
- Maintain an up-to-date technical knowledge on relevant tax matters
- High levels of confidentiality, discretion, and diplomacy
- Flexible and willing to undertake ad hoc projects and duties within the Finance team.
