Engineering and Design Manager required to work for a niche engineering organisation who specialise in the manufacture of specialist equipment utilised in a broad range of industries and environments including laboratories and out in the field.

We are looking for an experienced manager who has a history of managing and developing teams, working with projects, customers and senior directors supporting the implementation for future product development and updates of existing products.

Whilst managing the Engineering and design teams you will be key to the continuing standardisation of the existing product line ensuring a world class product that exceeds customer expectations and meets the needs goes to market. Working with internal stakeholders at the point of delivery and delivering a product that provides quality at the appropriate cost, maximises efficiency and drives engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • First point of contact with Engineering to support the day-to-day operational needs of the business providing engineering (mechanical and technology) support to both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Management of the mechanical and electrical sub team within the engineering group ensuring planned work is delivered on time and to agreed objective.
  • Manage the engineering support function ensuring that the necessary time and resources is provided to meet the business need.
  • Manage the change control process within engineering acting as gatekeeper for approval of ECR's and coordinating delivery dates of the engineering elements of the process.
  • Lead the management of Non-Conformance reports in Engineering ensuring that no delays occur to the operational management and identifying Root Cause to improve the existing product, process, and procedures with Engineering.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Engineering ensure that robust process and procedures are maintained and followed across the Engineering Group
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to provide the GDS standardised product range that meets the regulatory standards required across the world.
  • Collaborate with the Product Specialist supporting the implementation of future product development and updates of existing products.
  • Provide monthly KPI's and reports as appropriate to the operational and wider group as agreed with the Director of Engineering

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing an engineering function delivering effective engineering strategies, policies, processes, and systems
  • Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
  • Technical mind-set who can challenge and drive process improvements.
