We’re working with a leading not-for-profit group to recruit a Head of Financial Accounting – a key leadership role in their high-performing finance team. Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, you’ll lead a capable team covering all aspects of statutory and financial reporting.This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong, qualified accountant to step into a role with real influence across a complex organisation. You’ll be leading a team responsible for the group’s financial accounting activity, including statutory reporting, audit management, and development of robust accounting policies and controls.This is a high-impact, visible role with the opportunity to shape process, improve systems and contribute to the continued success of the group.What will the Head of Financial Accounting role involve?

  • Leading on consolidated and entity-level financial reporting.
  • Overseeing year-end processes and managing the external audit.
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with accounting standards (FRS 102 / SORP).
  • Supporting the development of robust controls and financial policies.
  • Working closely with colleagues across finance, fixed assets, and senior leadership.
  • Leading, developing and mentoring a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants.

Suitable Candidate for the Head of Financial Accounting vacancy:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong technical expertise in financial reporting, audit, and consolidation.
  • In-depth knowledge of FRS 102 and SORP.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing finance teams and managing year-end processes.
  • Confident communicator with experience using ERP systems and engaging senior stakeholders.
