Location: Basingstoke
Working Hours
40 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 16:30
- Friday: 07:30 - 14:00
Pay
Up to 17.50 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Inspector with strong manual measurement and numeracy skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC machining and precision manufacturing environments.
Education & Experience
- Advanced Apprenticeship or Higher Education qualification in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- Proven experience as a Mechanical/Quality Inspector in a CNC or precision engineering environment (essential)
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Proficient with handheld measuring tools, linear height gauges, bore gauges, surface finish testers, etc.
- Strong numeracy and attention to detail
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of quality systems (preferably AS9100)
- CMM operation experience (Mitutoyo preferred)
- Excellent communication and time management skills
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform goods-inwards, in-process, and final inspections using various tools and techniques
- Conduct routine visual and dimensional inspections for surface defects and other quality criteria
- Produce inspection reports and complete Certificates of Conformance (CofCs), FAIRs, and customer QA documentation
- Raise NCRs when necessary and support the 8D process
- Verify processing in accordance with route cards
- Assist in maintaining an accurate and up-to-date calibration system
- Collaborate with section leaders and production teams to ensure accurate documentation
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Inspection Team Leader and Head of Quality Improvement & Assurance
