We are seeking a nurturing, empathetic, and creative Mentor to support a Year 8 student in Basingstoke. This young person has an ADHD diagnosis and is currently undergoing assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They would benefit from a consistent, compassionate adult who can help build their confidence, engagement, and ability to form positive relationships.
As a Mentor, you will:
- Work 1:1 with this student across five sessions per week, each lasting two hours. Your role will be to:
- Build trust and rapport through consistent, caring support
- Encourage engagement in learning and social activities
- Help develop emotional resilience and self-esteem
- Foster positive adult relationships and model healthy communication
About you:
You do not need formal qualifications to apply. What matters most is your ability to connect, understand, and support. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in:
- Youth work
- Support work
- 1:1 mentoring or tutoring
- Creative arts, play therapy, or similar fields
You'll be someone who is patient, intuitive, and able to adapt your approach to meet the needs of individuals.

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people
Trauma-informed- desirable
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
