About the Role

Supply Desk are proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded secondary school in Basingstoke, seeking a passionate and creative Textiles Teacher for an immediate start. This long-term role runs until Easter 2026, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners to inspire students through engaging and practical Textiles lessons. You will teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, developing students’ creativity, technical skills, and confidence in design and production.

You will join a supportive Design & Technology department that values collaboration, innovation, and the sharing of best practice to deliver high-quality outcomes for all learners.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Have a degree in Textiles, Design Technology, Art & Design, or a related subject.

  • Have recent experience teaching Textiles in UK secondary schools.

  • Be confident teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (experience of GCSE Textiles desirable).

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge, organisation, and classroom management skills.

  • Be enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to inspiring creativity and independent learning.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum planning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Textiles lessons in line with the national curriculum and exam specifications.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment.

  • Encourage students to explore design processes, experiment with materials, and develop practical textile skills.

  • Monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and targeted support.

  • Collaborate with the Design & Technology department to share resources and ideas.

  • Contribute to extracurricular or enrichment activities, such as creative clubs or exhibitions of student work.
