A leading further education provider in the South West is looking for an HR Advisor to join their dynamic People & Culture team. Following the launch of a new people strategy in January 2025, this is an exciting time to join and contribute to an ambitious and rewarding programme of work focused on retention, development, well-being, and creating a truly great place to work.

About the role:

Every day is different in this busy, people-focused HR team. As HR Advisor, you'll support staff and managers with day-to-day HR matters, including employee relations, absence management, and first-stage investigations. You'll also contribute to wider HR projects, staff recognition initiatives, and ensure quality and compliance through accurate documentation, systems updates, and process improvements.
What you'll be doing:

Advising on employee relations, absence, probation, and policy queries


Supporting managers with formal and informal HR processes


Leading first-stage absence management and identifying areas for improvement


Drafting contracts, contract change letters, and monitoring HR data


Coordinating first-day inductions and maintaining positive onboarding experiences


Supporting system usage and helping to improve processes


What we're looking for:

CIPD Level 5 qualified or working towards it


Experience in an HR advisory role, ideally within the education or public sector


Confident communication and strong organisational skills


Comfortable working with HR systems and Microsoft Office (especially Word & Excel)


Knowledge of HR best practice, employment law and employee relations
