Our client is a fast-growing workplace furniture company redefining commercial interiors through intelligent design, acoustic innovation, and modern aesthetics. With a flagship showroom in London and a head office in Beaconsfield, they partner with architects, designers, and businesses across the UK to deliver inspiring, future-focused workspaces.
They are now seeking a commercially minded Senior Accountant to lead and bring their finance function in-house from its current offshore setup. This is a hands-on leadership role that will report directly to the CEO and Founder, owning all aspects of financial management, reporting, and strategic insight.
**This role is based in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, and candidates must live locally or within a commutable distance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely monthly management accounts and KPI reporting
- Provide P&L analysis and financial commentary to the CEO and senior leadership
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, journals, accruals, and reconciliations
- Manage offshore bookkeeping team and lead transition of finance function in-house
- Own PAYE processing, pensions, and payroll-related reconciliations
- Oversee VAT returns and ensure compliance across UK, EU, and Switzerland
- Manage import/export accounting, customs duties, and European tax considerations
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Collaborate across departments to improve margin visibility and operational performance
- Work with CRM systems (e.g. Zoho) and integrate financial data with operational tools
- Develop internal controls, reporting standards, and process improvements as we scale
Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or finalist with relevant experience)
- Local to Beaconsfield or surrounding areas (essential)
- Proven experience in a senior accounting role, ideally in a product-based or import/export business
- Experience working closely with a CEO, Founder, or Managing Director in a commercial environment
- High proficiency in Xero and Excel, with strong financial modelling and analysis skills
- Hands-on knowledge of PAYE, VAT returns, and payroll processes
- Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems (Zoho or similar)
- Strong understanding of VAT compliance across the UK, EU, and Switzerland
- Experience in international shipping, customs, and import tax is desirable
- Meticulous attention to detail with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, design-led environment with evolving processes
Nice to Have
- Background in commercial interiors, design, or manufacturing
- Experience managing remote or offshore finance teams
- Familiarity with multi-currency consolidation and intercompany transactions
