An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Chef to join a thriving independent pub under a new, award-winning manager in one of Buckinghamshires most desirable areas. The business has an excellent foundation and is now ready to elevate its food offering to the next level blending quality pub classics with creative, seasonal dishes.
The OpportunityThe pub currently serves around 90150 covers on Sundays and achieves weekly revenue of approximately £6k. The kitchen is small but efficient, serving a fresh, locally sourced menu that includes burgers, ribs, steaks, Sunday roasts, and other well-executed pub favourites. The next step is to evolve towards a modern gastropub menu with signature dishes that will attract both locals and destination diners.
Whats on OfferSalary: £45,000 + Tronc + Bonus (Profit Share worth up to £67k annually)
Hours: 45 per week (5 days)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to: Owners / General Manager
Team: 1 dedicated Sous Chef + KP support
Environment: Independent ownership, creative autonomy, supportive management
Design and deliver fresh, seasonal menus showcasing British produce
Control food costs within 2832% and drive food profitability
Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations including prep, service, and compliance
Build and maintain relationships with trusted suppliers (Smithfield and local producers)
Motivate and lead a small, hands-on kitchen team
Support events and dining development to grow food revenue
Maintain the highest EHO and food safety standards
Proven experience as a Head Chef or a strong Sous Chef ready to step up
Background in quality pubs or gastropubs using fresh ingredients
Confident with GP control, ordering, and stock management
Passionate about creating memorable dishes with consistency and flair
Driven, commercially minded, and eager to build a name for yourself
