Connect Appointments have a new opportunity in the Beaminster area, for an experienced Residential Conveyancing Legal Secretary, to join our legal clients growing team.

What's on offer?

  • A full-time permanent opportunity
  • Working 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5.30pm & Friday 9am to 5pm
  • A salary of 25,000 to 27,000 per annum

Working as a Legal Secretary, your duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Being the first point of contact for customers contacting the law office
  • Prepare and amend documents, contracts (including Sale and Purchase Agreements, Transfer Deeds, Completion Statements), Land Registry forms and correspondence by audio and copy typing using digital dictation
  • Dictating audio files and written notes
  • Managing records, projects and calendars, ensuring everything flows smoothly
  • Transcribing and proofreading legal documents
  • Indexing and updating pleadings
  • Collecting and delivering documents
  • Managing diaries and making travel arrangements

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous administration experience, with practice in audio transcriptions - but previous experience in the legal sector would be an advantage.

Other key skills and traits that you will ideally have, includes:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients, solicitors, estate agents, mortgage lenders and other third parties
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when preparing and proof-reading legal documents and correspondence
  • A thorough understanding of the conveyancing process, with previous experience in residential property transactions is preferable
  • A responsible and discreet approach to handling sensitive client information
  • A commitment to punctuality, reliability, and maintaining high standards of file management and record keeping
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation
  • Proficiency in word processing software including MS Office
  • Ability to work with a team of Lawyers and others in the organisation
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadline
