Health & Safety Manager
Position: Reduce hours or Full-time (minimum 4 days per week)
Location: Hybrid working, with 2 days per week based in the Bedford office. Includes travel across Bedfordshire, Derbyshire, Essex, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and Norfolk
Requirements: Full UK Driver License and vehicle
Salary: 46,000 to 52,800 (pro-rated for part-time)
Are you passionate about creating a safe and compliant workplace? We are searching for a seasoned Health & Safety Manager with extensive experience in managing health and safety protocols across multiple sites. Ideally you will have experience in the medical sector but it is not essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a stand-alone role, with proficiency in ISO 45001 standards and expertise in conducting and implementing COSHH assessments. Flexibility to travel to various locations is required.

The role
- Elevate Health and Safety Standards:Continuously improve the company's health and safety management and procedures.
- Strategic Development:Play a key role in creating and implementing their health and safety strategy.
- Empower Through Education:Develop and deliver impactful training programmes and seminars.
- Expert Guidance:Provide invaluable health and safety advice to employees across all departments.
- Legal Compliance:Interpret and apply UK health and safety laws to ensure the company stays compliant.
- Policy Management:Prepare, update, and maintain health and safety policies.
- Reporting Excellence:Prepare and submit detailed health and safety reports to various committees and the board.
- Strategic Coordination:Coordinate the implementation of our health and safety strategy.
- Incident Investigation:Investigate reportable incidents and produce thorough investigation reports.
- Managerial Support:Assist managers in conducting incident investigations.
- Action Planning:Create and distribute effective action plans based on incident findings.
- Internal Audits:Conduct comprehensive internal health and safety audits.
- Risk Assessment:Prepare detailed reports and action plans for department leads and managers.
- Hazard Management:Conduct risk assessments and address hazardous incidents or situations within the company.
- Specialist Advice:Advise specialist managers on health and safety matters.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven Experience:You must have a solid track record as a Health and Safety Manager in a stand-alone role.
- Regulatory Knowledge: A strong understanding of local and national health and safety laws and regulations is essential.
- ISO18001 Expertise:Working knowledge of ISO18001 standards and the ability to implement COSHH assessments.
- NEBOSH Diploma:This is a must-have qualification for this role.
- Organisational Skills:You must be organised, a strong communicator, and capable of nurturing and guiding staff.
Desirable Qualities:
- Healthcare Sector Insight:Ideally, you will have knowledge of risks within the healthcare sector.
- IOSH Membership:Being a member of IOSH is advantageous.
