Role Overview
We are looking for a Freelance Section Engineer to support early works on an infrastructure scheme providing access from the A421 into a new development. The role will involve managing and delivering enabling works packages in collaboration with the site team and contractors. The Section Engineer will report directly to the Project Manager and work alongside a Foreman.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver and manage packages of early works including:
Vegetation clearance
Ground investigation
Topographical and utilities surveys
Drainage and CCTV surveys
Supervise and coordinate multiple subcontractors with minimal day-to-day support.
Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to quality standards.
Maintain health, safety, and environmental compliance at all times.
Provide technical support and site leadership.
Produce and maintain relevant site documentation and records.
Working Pattern
Weeks 1-4: Night shifts, Monday to Friday
Following weeks: Day shifts
Requirements
Previous experience as a Section Engineer (or similar) within civil engineering or highways/infrastructure.
Proven ability to run small work packages with multiple contractors.
Self-sufficient, organised, and proactive.
CSCS card and appropriate site qualifications.
Immediate availability.
