Are you a recent psychology or criminology graduate or an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant in and around Kempston with a passion for supporting young people facing emotional, social, and behavioural challenges?

We're working with a progressive and inclusive SEN school in Kempston, Bedford, seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring educational psychologists, youth workers, social workers, or those looking to build a career in mental health, education and training.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
  • Work alongside the SENCO, pastoral staff, and external agencies to create a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focused on emotional regulation, resilience, and self-esteem.
  • Help students re-engage with education and act as a positive role model every day.

Who We're Looking For:

  • A recent graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field (2:1 or above preferred).
  • Someone passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Calm, empathetic, and capable of building trusting, respectful relationships.
  • Able to commute to Kempston, Bedford.
  • Any previous experience working with young people or vulnerable groups (voluntary or paid) is a plus-but not essential.
