A respected and award-winning planning and development consultancy is looking to grow their talented team with the addition of either a Planning Assistant or a Planner/Senior Planner. This is a unique opportunity to join a commercially-focused consultancy known for its innovative, client-driven approach and vibrant team culture.

About the Role

You'll be part of a small, multidisciplinary team providing bespoke town planning and development consultancy services to a diverse client base. The role involves working on a wide range of development proposals, from urban extensions of several hundred homes to more modest residential schemes.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals

  • Site promotion and Local Plan representations (especially for Planner/Senior roles)

  • Supporting or leading on client liaison and strategy development

  • Engaging in S106 negotiations, viability assessments, and public consultations

  • Working collaboratively with local authorities and stakeholders to secure positive outcomes

Ideal Candidate

For Planning Assistant:

  • Some experience within a private consultancy setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • A keen interest in learning about the commercial aspects of planning

For Planner/Senior Planner:

  • Demonstrable experience in Local Plan representations and strategic land promotion

  • Previous experience in a private consultancy is highly desirable

  • Ideally brings one or two active client relationships

  • Proven ability to manage projects independently and deliver commercially sound advice
