Senior Solicitor (SEN)

I am recruiting for a Senior Solicitor specialising in Special Educational Needs and education matters. This role focuses predominantly on complex Special Educational Needs (SEN) and general education matters. This role is ideal for someone who is adept at managing a caseload with minimal supervision and is skilled in advocacy within SEN Tribunal cases.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work as part of a team to deliver professional legal services, ensuring compliance with legal duties and protecting client interests in SEN and education sectors.
  • Manage a complex caseload, primarily involving SEN Tribunal cases, with minimal supervision.
  • Undertake advocacy in case management and final hearings in the first-tier SEND Tribunal and instruct counsel as appropriate.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with legal practice areas relevant to the role.
  • Attend client liaison meetings to discuss ongoing cases and ensure the delivery of high-quality service.
  • Act as a point of contact for various cases, handling tasks such as taking instructions, giving advice, conducting research, preparing applications, drafting documents, and providing representation in courts or tribunals.
  • Develop and deliver training to clients on legal skills and specific areas of law.
  • Support the management team in maintaining effective client relationships and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and practice management requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in managing complex legal cases, particularly in SEN and education law.
  • Strong advocacy skills and experience in handling SEN Tribunal cases.
  • Excellent legal research, application, and document drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively managing client relationships and providing expert advice.
  • Compliance with SRA and practice management requirements.
