A forward-thinking and inclusive primary school in Houghton Regis is working in partnership with Tradewind Recruitment to appoint a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant with a focus on supporting pupils with special educational needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This school is in the heart of Houghton Regis and the successful applicant would be actively encouraged to get involved with the wider school community.

There are good public transport links to the school but a driving license would be beneficial if you are travelling from outside of Luton.

In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with children diagnosed with ASD, providing tailored academic and emotional support

  • Use creative and differentiated approaches to support individual learning needs

  • Feedback to parents and SENDCO where appropriate

  • Create a fun and safe learning environment

  • Work with several students on a 1-1 basis with a range of special needs

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in Psychology, Education, or a related subject

  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in working with children with additional needs

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be proactive, patient, and adaptable in a classroom setting

  • Have a sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection practice.
