Control Systems Engineer

Orion is working with a market-leading automation company seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join its dynamic team. This is a fantastic chance for a multi-skilled professional with a strong background in PLC and HMI control systems to contribute to innovative automated machinery solutions.

 

About the Control Systems Engineer Role:

As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing electrical control systems, developing software, and supporting the full lifecycle of machine projectsfrom initial design and commissioning to final installation at customer sites worldwide. Collaboration with internal teams and effective communication with customers are essential to ensure successful project delivery. The role involves occasional international travel (approximately 4-5 trips per year) to support installations and assist end-users with upgrade projects.

 

Responsibilities of the Control Systems Engineer:

  • Design electrical engineering solutions and software for machinery.
  • Conduct design reviews and prepare specifications for specialised applications.
  •  Complete FAT documentation.
  • Support engineering queries and resolve manufacturing quality issues.
  • Perform installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites globally.

 

Requirements of the Control Systems Engineer:

  • Proven experience designing electrical control systems for special-purpose machinery.
  • Competence in compiling BOMs and managing MRP uploads.
  • PLC programming experience with Siemens S7 and/or Rockwell ControlLogix.
  • Experience commissioning machines to FAT protocols.
  • Experience in creating risk assessments and safety circuit design to meet SIL standards.
  • Setup and implementation of vision systems.
