Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for Behaviour Support Teaching Assistants to work in primary and secondary schools across Bedford, starting in September 2025.

These roles involve supporting children and young people who present challenging behaviour, often linked to social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, trauma, or additional learning difficulties such as autism or ADHD.

Whether you've worked in schools, youth work, residential care, or another support setting, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behaviour challenges

  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support engagement in lessons

  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff

  • Help to create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and self-confidence in pupils

Who We're Looking For
  • Experience in any of the following: behaviour support, SEMH, youth work, mentoring, or SEN

  • Confident in de-escalation and building positive, trusting relationships with students

  • Calm, patient, and able to maintain clear boundaries

  • Team Teach, MAPA, or similar behaviour management training is advantageous (but not essential)

  • Must have, or be willing to apply for, an enhanced DBS on the Update Service
