A dynamic Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Bedford is looking for flexible and resilient Supply Teaching Assistants to provide ongoing cover across their setting. The PRU supports teenagers aged 11-16 who have experienced disruption in their education due to behavioural needs, social and emotional challenges, or difficult personal circumstances. Your role will be central to helping them re-engage with learning, develop self-belief, and build positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
* Help create a calm, structured environment where students feel safe and respected
* Support with behaviour regulation, de-escalation, and restorative conversations
* Build positive rapport quickly and model appropriate communication and boundaries
* Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to ensure continuity for learners during staff absences
What We're Looking For:
* Experience supporting teenagers with behavioural challenges, SEMH needs, or complex backgrounds
* A calm, confident, and resilient mindset
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly
* Flexibility to adapt to changing routines, classes, and pupil needs
* NVQ Level 2 or relevant experience within SEMH/PRU settings
