Mild Steel Fabricator/Welder

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mild Steel Fabricator/Welder based in Bedford for one of our clients on a full-time permanent basis.

Summary of the Mild Steel Fabricator/Welder role 

Salary: £15 - £17 per hour
Location: Bedford
Type of Contract: Temp to perm  
Hours: 40 hours, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Responsibilities of the Mild Steel Fabricator/Welder

• Fabricate and weld mild steel components for various structural and architectural metalwork, including balconies, staircases, balustrades, handrails, and gates.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication plans accurately.
• Measure, cut, and assemble metal sections using appropriate tools and machinery.
• Carry out MIG welding to a high standard, ensuring strong and clean welds.
• Perform grinding, drilling, and finishing work to meet required specifications.
• Work closely with production and finishing teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to quality standards.
• Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure precision and compliance with drawings

Requirements for a successful Mild Steel Fabricator/Welder

• Proven experience as a Fabricator/Welder working with mild steel.
• Skilled in MIG welding, with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
• Experience fabricating architectural or structural steelwork such as staircases, railings, or frames.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately.
• Proficient with workshop tools and fabrication equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high workmanship standards.
• Good teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work independently when required.
• Reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining high-quality workmanship.
