Job Description

We are seeking a Welding Coordinator / Deputy Welding Coordinator to support our Department Manager with welding inspections, testing, and the maintenance of welding quality management systems. You will assist with welder training, process qualification, and new product introduction from concept through to delivery across the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out welding coordination activities to ISO 14731.

  • Support planning and implementation of new and existing fabricated products.

  • Coordinate welding project activities to achieve quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

  • Maintain manufacturing work instructions and welding documentation (WPS, WPQR, welder qualifications, quality records).

  • Assist in welder training, testing, and certification management.

  • Coordinate NDT and destructive testing; assess reports and perform tests where authorised.

  • Support equipment, tooling, jig/fixture planning, and process improvements.

  • Investigate welding/material non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 3834-2, EN 1090, EN 15085, and customer standards.

  • Participate in audits and maintain welding quality control systems.

  • Perform and report on materials and coatings testing.

  • Produce technical reports and support overseas facilities when required.

  • Monitor and report KPIs for production and technical performance.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • HNC/HND, Level 3 Apprenticeship, or equivalent in engineering, welding, or fabrication.

  • Practical experience in welding, fabrication, or materials engineering.

  • Understanding of welding processes, fabrication methods, and quality control.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and welding-related standards.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • VT / CSWIP / PCN / ISO 9712 certification.

  • IIW Welding Specialist or higher qualification.

  • Degree in materials, metallurgy, or engineering.

  • Experience in welding fabrication workshops or materials processing.

  • Familiarity with EN/ISO welder & procedure qualifications and ISO 3834-2.

  • NDT experience (VT, UT, RT, MT, PT).

  • Knowledge of cutting, forming, holing, coatings, and conformity testing processes.

Key Skills

  • Strong technical understanding of welding and fabrication.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and standards.
