Assistant Accountant – Belfast City Centre

6-month Fixed-Term | Full-time | Office-based | £dependent on experience |

Reed Accountancy are delighted to be working in partnership with one of Northern Ireland’s most prestigious institutions, based in the heart of Belfast City Centre, for an Assistant Accountant to join their team for a period of 6-months.

This is a full-time and office-based opportunity for a part-qualified Accountant/Accounting Technician to work closely with a dynamic finance team in a fast-paced, creative environment.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Prepare departmental management accounts, journals, and reconciliations.
  • Manage purchase and sales ledgers, credit control, and supplier payments.
  • Process weekly payroll and ensure compliance with HMRC and pension regulations.
  • Support VAT returns, month-end close, and audit preparation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and policy compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • IATI qualified or part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ICAI, ICAEW)
  • 2+ years’ relevant experience in the preparation of management accounts/payroll.
  • Strong background in management accounts, payroll, and VAT.
  • Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and a team player.
