DUTIES
Your duties as the Structural Design Engineer include:
- Lead and deliver design work on a variety of structural projects across multiple sectors
- Perform structural analysis and design using steel, concrete, timber, and masonry to Eurocode and British Standards
- Design foundations and geotechnical elements in collaboration with internal and external consultants
- Use engineering software including Axis VM, SCIA/StatiCa, and Tekla Tedds to support project delivery
- Produce design calculations, reports, sketches, technical specifications, and material take-offs
- Coordinate effectively with CAD/Revit Technicians and ensure design intent is communicated clearly
- Attend and contribute to design team meetings, client meetings, and site visits
- Mentor junior engineers and support a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Help manage commercial performance, ensuring project budgets and timescales are met
- Maintain a high standard of technical excellence and ensure compliance with relevant codes and internal QA
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
As the Structural Design Engineer you’ll have the following:
- MEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering from a recognised UK or international university
- Previous post-qualification experience in a consultancy environment
- Focused on achieving IStructE Chartership within the next 6-9 months (full support provided)
- Confident communicator with strong technical and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines without compromising on quality
- A proactive mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for problem-solving and client delivery
- Experience across a variety of structural materials and familiarity with UK building regulations
