Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Leicester, LE2
Salary: £95 - £105 per day
Contract Type: Temporary (Temp to perm for the right candidate)
About the Role:
A friendly and supportive primary school in the LE2 area is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil with ADHD. This is a full-time role (8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday) starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year. The school, medium in size with a welcoming team, may offer a permanent position to the right candidate. Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Build trusting relationships with students using a restorative approach.
- Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
- Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
- Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
- Working 1:1 with students offering extra support
Key Requirements of a SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 or equivalent
- A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
- The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
- A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service. – If you don’t already have a DBS, we can help you apply for one.
