Our client, a leading organisation in the Energy and Chemical sectors, is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis This pivotal role reports to the Lead Electrical Engineer and involves producing a variety of electrical deliverables for diverse projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating effectively with clients, contractors, and installation teams both on-site and off-site to ensure seamless project execution. They will prepare detailed electrical engineering documentation, including AutoCAD drawings, calculations, schedules, technical reports, and risk assessments, while ensuring all designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and health and safety protocols. The role requires close coordination with other disciplines to maintain inter-discipline compatibility across documentation. Candidates must be able to manage their workload efficiently to meet project deadlines and adhere to company HSEQ systems. Regular responsibilities include providing weekly progress updates to the Lead Electrical Engineer, participating in project meetings, conducting independent site surveys, and actively contributing to continuous improvement in both personal and company practices.
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of an HND or HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, with CompEx EX12 certification considered advantageous. They should be actively pursuing Professional Registration and demonstrate a willingness to obtain certifications such as a Vantage Card, BOSIET, and MIST for offshore work. A strong background in oil and gas or petrochemical design within an engineering consultancy is essential. The candidate must be proficient in BS7671 and possess solid knowledge of electrical cabling and equipment. Experience in designing solar PV, renewable energy systems, and battery storage solutions is highly desirable, along with familiarity with ATEX-compliant designs and BS EN 60079 standards. Strong oral and written communication skills are required, as well as proficiency in Trimble (Amtech), Microsoft Office applications, and AutoCAD.
