Red Snapper Recruitment is working on behalf of the National Probation Service to recruit a Probation Services Officer to join the Unpaid Work team in Yorkshire and the Humber.This is a maternity cover role within the Sentence Management team, with a specific focus on delivering case management for individuals subject to Unpaid Work requirements. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong offender management experience and a passion for supporting community-based rehabilitation.Location: Yorkshire and the Humber, Reed House, Annie Reed Rd, Beverley HU17 0LFContract: Full-time, 37 hours per weekContract Length: Until end of maternity leave (earliest end date: 28/11/2025)Pay Rate: £16.39 per hour (PAYE) or £21.59 per hour (via Umbrella)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of individuals with Unpaid Work (Community Payback) requirements
  • Complete initial assessments, sentence plans, and reviews in line with national standards
  • Monitor compliance and progress, taking enforcement action where necessary
  • Liaise with placement supervisors, Unpaid Work Operations, and community partners
  • Record all activity and case information accurately using probation systems (NDelius and OASys)
  • Contribute to risk assessment, safeguarding, and public protection processes
  • Support rehabilitation through motivational engagement and structured planning

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working in offender management or a similar justice/social care environment
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy caseload
  • Understanding of Community Payback/Unpaid Work requirements and enforcement processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with service users and stakeholders
  • Proficiency using IT systems for recording and managing casework
  • Enhanced DBS check (can be arranged as part of onboarding)
