Head of Art

• The Head of Art leads the Art department, overseeing teaching, curriculum delivery, pupil progress, and staff development.

• The role includes strategic planning, driving standards, and ensuring high-quality Art education across the school.

• Responsible for planning and delivering well-structured Art lessons and ensuring strong pupil progress and engagement.

• Leads, manages, and supports staff within the Art department, including line management, training, and appraisal responsibilities.

• Oversees assessment, attainment, curriculum development, and the overall quality of teaching and learning in Art.

• Ensures best practice, provides professional guidance, and contributes to whole-school expectations and smooth operations.

• A forward-thinking, supportive setting committed to high standards of teaching and learning.

• Encourages professional growth, collaboration, and innovation within departments.

• Focuses on creating a positive learning environment where staff and students thrive academically and creatively.

To be considered for the role of Head of Art you will:

• QTS or QTLS (or an equivalent UK teaching qualification)
• A degree or equivalent level of education
• Experience teaching Art at Key Stages 3 - 5 in UK secondary schools
• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and inspire students
• Compassionate, understanding, and committed to student development
• Available for an immediate start

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
